Traditionally, in order to use EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) trading, business trading partners have to arrange trading agreements in advance before actual transactions can be carried out. With the integration of Secure EDI and Entrust PKI, business partners can be authenticated and authorized using digital certificates, hence secure EDI transactions can be performed safely without having to arrange for business agreements or contracts in advance. In addition, the traditional EDI messages are transmitted via the Value Added Networks (VANs) for security reasons. However, with Secure EDI, all EDI messages protected with PKI security functions are save to be transmitted in the open Internet environment.

The Secure EDI complies with the EDIFACT Version 4 Security Standard for the encryption, signature and verification of standard EDI messages and for sender/receiver mutual authentication.

The Secure EDI comes with a high performance traditional EDI system. For EDI outbound process, the Secure EDI receives standard EDI messages from traditional EDI systems, signs and encrypts the traditional EDI messages using digital certificates and passes the trusted EDI messages to trading partners. For EDI inbound process, the Secure EDI receives the trusted EDI messages, decrypts, authenticates and verifies the trusted EDI messages. After successful checking, standard EDI messages are compiled based on the trusted EDI messages and are passed to the traditional EDI systems.

For companies who already have traditional EDI systems implemented in-house, InfoTrus can provide the Secure EDI gateway to provide the EDI security features. The Secure EDI gateway works with any traditional EDI system in the market place.

The eTradeManager/Secure EDI also provides the following features:
